    Emma Burden

    Since graduating from the University of Plymouth with a BEd (Hons) in Primary education and English, Emma taught at a junior school in Bournemouth, UK for 6 years. During that time she was also the English coordinator. After that, she taught for 3 years on Jeju Island, South Korea in an international school working with Year 5 and was in charge of PSHE. Emma has run many different extra curricular activities during her career including ukelele, school musicals, Art, French, Spanish and SCUBA diving. When she's not teaching she enjoys reading, travelling, cooking, cycling and diving.

    Gill Ower

    Following her graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in Law, Gill spent the early part of her career working in the Scottish child protection system before her itchy feet got the better of her and she emigrated to Australia, stopping off for a spot of South East Asia travel along the way.  Over 25 years later, she was delighted to have the opportunity to return to the region when she and her family relocated to Hanoi in 2016. Gill joins BIS Hanoi having taught in two British international schools in Spain, her home for the preceding 16 years.  In her free time, Gill enjoys the performing arts, hiking, crochet, basketball - watching not playing - and hopes one day to see the Hanoi Buffaloes win the VBA.

    John Carroll

    After completing a HND in Construction Studies and then a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Building Surveying at Birmingham University, in the UK, John worked as a Building Surveyor and specialist remedial treatments surveyor for 5 years in the England. John then completed his PGCE at Newman College, Birmingham. He trained and taught for three years in the UK as a class teacher. He then moved to Bratislava in Slovakia and taught at the British International School of Bratislava for 10 years in various year groups throughout both key stages.
    When John is not teaching he enjoys spending time with his family, enjoying the 'great outdoors' and listening to music. He tries to cycle to most days and Is a keen cook and occasional angler. John loves walking and being close to nature.
