EAL Term 1 Lessons

Year 2 have made a great start to the year in EAL!

We have been learning how to construct interesting sentences, all about maths vocabulary related to shapes and to read and write CVC words.  We have also been on noun and shape hunts around the school to help us understand what nouns are and to identify different 2D and 3D shapes.  Great work Year 2!

Year 1 EAL Lesson:

The Year 1 EAL students have been working on using complete sentences to express likes and dislikes. They practised using the correct sentence structure while playing speaking and listening games. The students also learned how to ask questions about what other people like and dislike. They took a survey of their friends in class, asking them if they like different things and recording their answers. It was great to see everyone speaking and listening so well!

F3 EAL Lesson:

F3 EAL students have been focusing on food and mealtime vocabulary. We read the book “Handa’s Surprise” and the children enjoyed making collages of fruit from the story and also making and eating a fruit salad. They have been practising asking for different foods as we set up a shop in the classroom for role play and have used their food vocabulary to play the shopping game.
