Across all three campuses at BIS we offer a huge range of extra curricular activities to our students. One of the more unusual ones is Rock Climbing!
Rock climbing is a great club. We go to a wall in District 3 and we climb for one hour. At that time, the place is empty and we can do as many climbs as our arms allow us. In this club we have developed our resilience since it is challenging to get to the top of the wall, and sometimes really easy to give up. However, with the support from the instructors and each other, we have definitely improved our climbing skills.
"Rock climbing club is a great experience. After all you get to climb a 16m wall which you would think is impossible. This club gives the chance to go high up. There are different lanes and every time you go up, even if you go up it again the climbing experience always changes. It is fun, exciting and when you get up there, it’s a great view."

This week we spoke to some of the students participating in the rock climbing activities. Students noted that from the first session to now, they have improved strength and stamina. Routes that they could not complete at first, they are now conquering! They have also conquered their fear of heights, in the beginning they were afraid of climbing too high, but now they feel completely safe as they know they can never fall! There is a real sense of team spirit, and through the coaching they receive, all the participants are encouraging each other to do more difficult routes each week. Climbing drives away distractions, promotes focus and concentration, as well as problem solving, and this carries over into the classroom. Climbing is fun, thrilling, and is great exercise!
