Reaching for the Stars

Dear Parents,

Fabulous!  In one word, that sums up the Milepost 2 production, ‘Cinderella and Rockerfella’ on Thursday night.  The singing was bright and enthusiastic, the lines were spoken with confidence and the dancing was great.  The audience played their part; laughing at the ‘ugly sisters’, booing Fairy Nastyboots, cheering Buttons and Teaser, and rejoicing when Cinderella and Prince Charming fell in love!  The performance had everything that we have come to expect from Milepost 2.

At the end of the performance, as well as thanking everyone who had helped to make the evening such a great success, I spoke about ‘ambition’.  We encourage all our children to be ambitious, to have big dreams, to reach for the stars!  Ambitions are realised through determination and hard work.  At BIS, our ambition for the children is to be successful in all aspects of their education.  We expect them to achieve not only in maths, English, science and the other academic subjects, but also in music, drama, sport and art.

As we are part of the Nord Anglia group of schools, an opportunity to enhance our provision in music and drama has opened up.  In January, we are preparing to welcome to TX, Christopher Mossey, the associate vice president for artistic and strategic planning, from the Julliard School of the Performing Arts in New York.  We look forward to seeing how our affiliation will help our children to achieve even more in this area.  Not everyone is destined to become a star, but as we provide more opportunities, not only will we see our children grow up to become doctors, lawyers, engineers and scientists, but we may also see a child from TX become ‘the next big thing’…like Buttons and Teaser, the talking dog.

EYFS Family Morning

Thank you to all the parents and staff who made Saturday morning such a fun event for all the children in EYFS.  We really appreciate all your hard work, and it was great to see the TX community making the most of this opportunity.

Year 1 Visit to the Family Garden

‘Plants have leaves to collect the sunlight to help them grow!’  Tina in Year 1 explained to me just before the class set off on their visit to the ‘Family Garden’ in Thao Dien.  The children have been studying ‘Flowers and Insects’ and the visit was a great ‘exit point’ for their IPC work this term. To find out more and see some of the photos, please follow the link:
