Nepal Fundraising Year 8

On June 17th and 18th, Year 8 students organised an event to raise funds for the Nepal Earthquake Appeal. With bake sales and games adding over 21,000,000 million or $1000 to the funds in just two days, we were all euphoric and satisfied that we could contribute to helping the British School Kathmandu and their community partners, as we all consider them one big family. As a Form Representative I felt that Year 8s hadn’t been contributing much to the school so when my friends started thinking of ideas as to how to help Nepal I decided to write a proposal and let Year 8s contribute! These past two days Year 8s have worked incredibly hard and thus I would like to thank Kayla Kim 8V, Nina Pham 8B, Chae Won Oh 8S (Form Representative), My Hoang Vo 8I (Form Representative), Jennifer Nguyen 8H, Shayla Allan 8S, Teemay Nguyen 8S, Holly Seo 8B, Viviena Nguyen 8I, Hang Nguyen 8I, Benita Dao 8V (Year Representative), Thuy Tien Duong 8H, Caitlyn Brownrigg 8V, Kristyna Phamova 8I, Molly Barthwal 8I, Eshana Mishra 8I, Yuen Yin Leung 8B, Mai Anh Tran 8B and Lisa Hagens 8C, among others.

I would like to thank everyone who bought cupcakes, pizzas, cookies and more; basically the staff and students in every single year group. Besides the Year 8s who contributed, we can’t ignore the fact that the Year Representatives also helped further to advertise this event and therefore, on behalf Year 8, I would like to thank Ashley Lee (Y7), Ji Min Oh (Y9), Tyler Nguyen (Y10), Gabby Cullen (Y12 – Head Girl) and Hikaru Hotta (Head Boy).

Most importantly, I would like to thank Mr Gillmore, Mr Dyer and Ms Tiemann for allowing Year 8s to do this and it was a great pleasure participating! Year 8 have all received positive comments from our fellow students and we will no doubt bring these positive comments and positive spirit with us up to Year 9 and will continue to contribute as a whole year group to the school. Thank you so much for this!
