We kick-started the 2016 BIS University Guidance programme by running three University Research Information Evenings this week.
With numerous options to choose from, it is more important than ever for prospective students to make informed decisions about higher education, so we encouraged both parents and students to attend these events.
Asia, Australia, UK, Canada, Europe… there are so many possibilities as an IB graduate. And their systems of application vary vastly, not only in how they deliver higher education but how they accept students and how they price their tuition fees.
The purpose of these evenings was to help students to start thinking about life after BIS and understanding the different university admission processes around the world. Students who are most successful when it comes to finding and applying to university are the ones who know what they are looking for.
The evenings focussed on university admissions around the world. Monday evening’s focus was the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. The US and Canada were discussed on Tuesday evening and Wednesday’s content was based on Asian and Australian university applications.
Hopefully the message students took home with them is that teachers, counsellors and parents will be working together to best support them through the entire research, application and admissions process.
The PowerPoint presentation for all three information events can be found below. One to one Guidance meetings for all Year 12 students will take place after the Tet holiday and invitations will go out to parents and students by early next week.
We hope you will be able to find the time to join us as we continue to aid our students in choosing programmes of study and universities which will help to shape their future choices.
