Year 9, 10 and 11 Mindfulness

The Middle Years, Year 9, 10 and 11, can be a difficult time for some students: they begin to mature at the same time as working hard towards their first major examinations, their IGCSE exams.

In response to student feedback last year, Year 11 had a new experience during their ILS lesson this Wednesday. Two lovely ladies, Hang and Sarah, came to share their knowledge of Mindfulness. Hang and Sarah run ‘Saigon Om’ which delivers a host of different types of health-based events including retreats in Mui Ne.

They kindly came to BIS to demonstrate to the pupils some methods that can be adopted to deal with stress, unhappiness and anger. Hang began by talking to the pupils about looking after themselves both emotionally and physically. The pupils then practised breathing exercises and relaxation exercises. The session was clearly a huge success with all pupils actively taking part and listening carefully to the advice on offer.

Hang and Sarah will be delivering two sessions to pupils in Years 9, 10, and 11 over the next few weeks.
