Saigon Intermediate Mathematics Challenge 2016

On Saturday 19th November British International School, HCMC, sent two teams to the Intermediate Saigon Mathematics Challenge at ISHCMC.  We were up against some tough competitors, with teams representing ISHCMC, AIS, BVIS, AmIS, EIS, SSIS and ABC.

  • Saigon Intermediate Mathematics Challenge 2016 BIS HCMC
  • Saigon Intermediate Mathematics Challenge 2016 BIS HCMC 1
  • Saigon Intermediate Mathematics Challenge 2016 BIS HCMC 3
  • Saigon Intermediate Mathematics Challenge 2016 BIS HCMC 2

Our school consisted of BIS HCMC 1 – Chae Won Oh, Dana Kim, Cedric Chua and Arunvelayutham Ramanathan

BIS HCMC 2 were – Junseop Lim, Yoon Su Jang, Seo Hyun Kim and Andy Lee.

The competition consists of 4 rounds.  This consists of the Individual, the PassBack, the Cross Number and the Relay.

Our students were up to the challenge, and I am pleased to say Chae Won Oh won the Individual round with an amazing 46 points.

In the final relay round BIS HCMC 2 also came through strongly, with the team finishing in 3rd place.  Overall we did not finish in the top 3 but our teams did extremely well and I was very pleased with their commitment, their amazing ability to solve tough mathematics problems quickly and their determination to do well.  Well done!

Stephen Roberts, Head of Mathematics
