Cross-Campus Student Council Meeting

The Student Council gives students a chance to take on some responsibility and leadership in the school. They represent their class on the Student Council and are expected to report back what has been discussed. Being a Student Council Representative is an opportunity to have a voice in school and to suggest ways to make our school even better.

On Monday 5th December the TX Student Council went to AP1 for the annual Cross-Campus Student Council meeting. The purpose of this meeting is for the Student Councils from TX, AP1 and BVIS to get to know each other and to get ideas to bring back to their own school.

First of all there were some activities for the students to get to know each other. These included a bingo game where the students had to go round asking lots of questions in order to find someone with green eyes or someone who had been to Bali, for example. After that, the Student Councils from each of the 3 campuses made a short presentation about what they have been doing. Ken in Y6 and Naomi in Y5 presented for TX. This was followed by a question and answer session, where students could ask further questions about the ideas that interested them. There were lots of opportunities for students to talk in mixed groups with their peers from other campuses. Everyone really enjoyed the day and we came back buzzing with ideas!

I enjoyed having activities with the other campuses and making new friends. I also loved the ideas and hope we can apply some at our school”   Ken, Year 6

“For me the good thing about the cross-campus meeting is that we got to hear other schools’ ideas that we can use to make our school a better place.”  Tadala, Year 5.
