The first half of the morning was a whirl wind of excitement as children chose the activities they wanted to participate in. The obstacle course was very popular and challenged children’s agility and balance. It was wonderful to see so many parents joining in; supporting and encouraging the children to persevere and overcome the challenges they faced. The water bucket challenge was a busy event all morning. The children used sponges to transport water from one bucket to another, enjoying the cool water on what was a stunning sunny day. With so many activities to enjoy, the children were spoilt for choice; skittles, beanbag target throwing, javelin, parachute games, hurdles, egg and spoon and sack races and this was all before snack!
The second half of the morning was reserved for races, introducing the children to the more structured and competitive events that form part of a Sports Day. F3 were keen to showcase some of their skills, they started with hurdles, followed by egg and spoon racing and finally some running races. They were such fabulous role models that F2 joined in with some races of their own. F1, while being a wonderful support crew, were not satisfied merely watching from the side-lines and finished up the children’s races with an F1 running race!
It was heartening to hear the children cheering for each other and clapping, delighting in not only their success but in the achievements and accomplishments of their friends. With all the children’s events done and dusted there was one final race – the Mums and Dads egg and spoon race, the children got a kick out of seeing their parents race, thank you for being such great sports.
This fabulous event would not have been possible without the invaluable support of our parent community. Thank you!
