Tu Xuong Moon Festival Celebrations 2017

Moon Festival, also known as children’s festival, is always an exciting and much anticipated event in Vietnam. Being an international school, we have a fantastic opportunity to experience different cultures from around the world, as well as local traditions. Last week at TX, we celebrated Moon Festival and had a wonderful time enjoying this cultural festival.

EYFS started the Moon Festival celebrations last Thursday by enjoying a fun morning Fair. It’s the first time for some of our young children to experience Moon Festival in school with friends and adults. The foyer was filled with brightly coloured lanterns and people wearing Ao Dais all day. Not only the children but also our parents were excited to join in the with the different activities such as, making playdough moon cakes, lantern decorating, face painting, bead threading and lots of fun games. It was such a fantastic interactive morning for children to have fun, which is part of the spirit of Moon Festival.

Following the EYFS Moon Festival celebration, Y1-Y6 had a great Moon Festival Assembly on Friday. The lantern parade was the highlight of the morning where the children showed off their efforts and creativity with their hand-made lanterns. It was very hard for Mr Ian and Ms Mary to pick this year’s best lanterns and award the prizes. After this, Year 6 performed a play about “Chu Cuoi” and shared the story of why we celebrate Moon Festival as well as a lovely song. We ended the assembly with the whole school singing the Moon Festival song. Thank you for those who helped prepare the Moon Festival celebrations this year, especially to our Senior TAs Ms Trinh and Ms Vy. I Hope the memories of the event will stay with our children for many years to come.
