This week, parents had the chance to come into school and learn about Talk for Writing as well as have a go for themselves at some of the activities that their children are taking part in within class. Talk for Writing is an initiative that focuses on the premise:

The initiative takes children through certain processes so that they learn and embed: vocabulary, sentence structures, correct grammar and organisational techniques, which they can then apply to their own writing. It’s a fun and interactive method of learning that both models and embeds correct English, as well as empowering children with the confidence that they need to write successfully.

At BIS, something else we are also incredibly passionate about is reading! Reading is the number one thing that you can do with your children to improve their English. We talked about the importance of inspiring your children to want to read and useful techniques that can be used at home when sharing a book with your child.
