Pick the first 3 words you think of when I say Vietnam...

Colour, bustle, adventure.

What are your first impressions of BIS HCMC?

On my very first visit to BIS HCMC, I had the impression that the school was attractive and well-resourced and that the children seemed to be happy and having fun - and I was correct! The children are positive, ready to learn and always friendly and polite. The atmosphere is extremely welcoming and relaxed but everyone here is very professional and always busy and hard at work. I knew immediately that I’d made the right decision to relocate here - I am thoroughly enjoying my first term.

What new experience have you had since you arrived in Vietnam?

I went to a Vietnamese cooking school in District 1 recently and had a wonderful day cooking traditional dishes. I learned to make a number of dishes including banana flower salad, Banh xeo and Goi cuon. I have also visited the Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine which was fascinating.

If you were writing a postcard to friends back home, what would it say?

Wish you were here! Vietnam is amazing. Everyone is friendly, the food is delicious and the excitement of a big city is beckoning. Come and join me on a Vespa tour around Saigon. Come diving in the waters off Nha Trang and join me on a day’s tour of the Mekong delta. Why aren’t you here already?!
