Girls Football - Match Reports 13/02/17

Our first week back at school was jam paced with football fixtures as we kicked off a new season. First up, our U14 Girls Squads. After Christmas, and Tet holidays, how did they fair against stiff local competition...

SSIS

Our first match of the season had us all nervous but excited. Our first goal was scored by the youngest player and the only Year 7 on our team, Olivia. Some excellent passes were made and 3 more goals were scored. Teaghan, who has been out for months, had a nice dribble and took an excellent shot but unfortunately hit the post.

After half time there were some more quality goals scored by Gemma, Kiara, Anne-linh and once again Olivia.

The final score was 7-0 an amazing result for the first match of the season.

ISHCMC

This match is always the toughest out of all the friendly matches. We are all more excited than the last game because we knew this one was going to be tough. The whistle blew and ISHCMC started with the kick off. We were all frantic however, a pass down to the top right of the pitch allowed Gemma to come in with a nice one touch finish and get us our first goal.

At half time Ms Webb could see that our play was messy and frantic, and we weren't doing the basics properly. We had a team talk and improved in the second half (although we almost scored an own goal) but came back with another goal scored by Gemma. ISHCMC had a shot at goal and Isaure, our goal keeper, made an incredible catch but unfortunately the ref saw it go over the line so the score was now 2-1.

One more pass to Gemma on the out side and a final goal was scored making the final score 3-1 to us, a great result.

U14 Girls B v ISHCMC

Final Score 2 - 2

Going into the first half we thought we were going to find it difficult, and we did. It was difficult for us to communicate with each other as we’ve never played together before. However, we worked as a team and improved on our mistakes we made during the first half.

Going into the second half was a lot easier than the first. We were more confident, and the confidence is what lead us to our goals. Caroline scored our very first goal, and Malena scored an amazing corner kick.

Overall it was a great match, and as well as learning new tactics we made new friends! Good job to all players.
