Boys Football (B) - Match Reports 14/02/17

"We lose as a team and we win as a team" was the message learned by our mighty U14B Boys Football Team as they start the season with a mixed bag of results.

  • Boys Football (B) - Match Reports

Our first match was against TAS. We went into the game under prepared, scared and inexperienced playing together as a team. The start of the first half was very hard, we didn't play like we would have liked to.  We were not confident to take on the ball, get back possession or take our shots. All of this led to two early goals. Towards the end of the first half our confidence grew, we watched the way they played and used this to our advantage. We started pushing them into their half and looked for the important through balls and tactical passes.

We fought well as a team and tried to win back every single ball. In the first ten minutes of the second half we were dominating, we got lots of chances and one of them was a goal which Olly Stevenson scored. The score was now 2 - 1. Our opponents were now starting to lose their confidence and they got very tired. However, towards the end of the second half they started taking more shots, looking for the passes and managed to score a very lucky goal in the last minute. Overall, we played well as a team.

Our second match was against ISHCMC. We warmed up well and got ourselves ready for the game. Most of the players were very confident and could not wait to play the game. This confidence clearly showed in the game. We were getting early chances, and we defended our half very well. When Olly Stevenson got subbed on it did not take him long take a confident shot witch landed in the back of their net. The score is 1 - 0. ISHCMC got quite a lot of chances towards the end of the first half, however, our defence stayed strong and we kept pushing them into their half of the pitch. Half time.

We started the second half full of energy and refuelled. We played good football and also got a lot of support from the small crowd which started to build around the field. We were passing more and we were using the space more, which led to a beautiful pass from Sebastian to Gia Vinh who took his chance and shot the ball low in the bottom corner. There were huge smiles on all of our faces. Towards the end of the second half ISHCMC were still eager to get a goal, so when they had a throw in one of the players threw a long and beautiful ball into the box which got headed neatly into our goal. The game ended with a 2:1 win for us and we were all delighted to have out first win.

We lose as a team and we win as a team.
