It was again a busy week for TX parents but not everything was about the upcoming Fête. This week we have seen the return of a family who left Vietnam two years ago, so it was also time for a reunion. But before telling you more about it, let’s have a look at how preparations for the Fête are going.
School Fête D-16
Since last week, the number of sponsors has increased, which is very good news. To give you an idea, parents have secured vouchers for dinners, massages, music lessons, arts classes and also a voucher for a one night/two days’ night cruise on the Mekong river! Well done everyone for such an amazing job. However, we keep looking into partnership, so please if you think of anyone who would be interested in taking part in the project, ask them and let us know. All money will be used to grant the school partners their needs. Last year, we were able to help Thien Phuoc Orphanage, PdV and ARC (you can read more about it here).
Ms Mary has confirmed that Y6 students will be involved and with the help of their teachers, they will organise and manage 4 games in the sports hall. Being part of the Fête is also an opportunity to take responsibility for the Y6 students. Thank you Ms Kirstine and Mr James for your support as the event is not held on a school day.
This year, the performance will not only be musical, in addition, dance and martial arts will be part of the programme. Club teachers have taken the opportunity to showcase what they have been rehearsing and practising with the students. Thank you for being part of the fête, too!
An Phu Primary (APP) recycling project team will also be present and will introduce the visitors to this long term project, how it started and where they want to take it. You’ll have an opportunity to view and buy, if you wish too, items made out of old school uniforms.
The TX bears need more uniforms. We only collected 28 and as each bear has the BIS logo on it, we need to reach the target of 100. Please have a look in your children’s wardrobes to find more shirts.
A fourth collection box was added. It’s to collect the Tombola items. Anything new, sealed, you don’t want anymore, please consider donating it. It will be used for the Tombola.
Next meeting will be held at 8am on Tuesday. Space allocation, floor plans, volunteers, numbers needed, decoration, and the program will be on the agenda. If you are available, it’s not too late, you can still join!
BIS TX once…BIS TX for ever
Albane and Thibaut, former TX students returned to Vietnam for a 10-day holiday. They moved back to France 2 years ago but it was like they never had left when they met their former classmates and friends during the weekend. It was just natural for everyone to be together again. Sleep over, jumping madness on trampolines at the new Jump Academy in D2, pizza night. They all had a great time.
They also visited TX before school started, so they could see the teachers and the staff. Florence was quite astonished that the guards remembered them. Well, they did spend 3 years at TX after all.
As parents also, we were really super happy to share time with Florence and Laurent, Albane and Thibaut’s parents, for a relaxing Sunday. It was a friendly reunion. On Tuesday, Florence also met a couple of mums for lunch.
Not long ago, I read a chronicle on how an expat life can affect your social life and leave you with a feeling of loneliness and/or a feeling of never really getting to know someone or creating bonds. It was a pretty scary article for me, however seeing how Albane and Thibaut were welcomed back by the TX community, just show how special our school is. No matter when you leave, where you went, the TX community always keeps a special place in its heart for you.
So Thibaut, Albane, Florence and Laurent, we look forward to your next trip, and we know that TX parents will always be welcome to visit you in Paris too!
Have a lovely weekend
Anne on behalf of the Parent Group
