It was bright and early on Saturday morning when I came into TX to greet twenty children from our long term community partners ‘Poussières de Vie’ to the TX fete. They were ready and waiting to prepare for their performance so I was quickly involved with styling hair and putting on some stage makeup! There was a buzz of excitement from the children as they couldn’t wait to show the audience their dazzling costumes and entertain us with their dances.
Soon it was time for the PdV children to be called on stage (after relaxing with an ice-cream of course!). They performed two dances for the audience – ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams and a Vietnamese song about a fox. The children performed with confidence and it was clear they had been practising hard. After receiving a tumultuous round of applause the children were presented with fresh flower necklaces by the parent teacher group to congratulate them.
Now the fun could really start! The children had the opportunity to try out all of the activities free of charge and it was clear they were having a brilliant time. Whether it was trying out some painting, trying to shoot the target, taking a turn on the tombola or creating sticker pictures, there were many smiley faces.
Sadly, the time came for PdV to leave the fete. They had a wonderful morning and I would like to take this opportunity to thank the PTG for their continued support of our community partners. A huge sum of money was raised through this event which will go towards buying items on our community partners’ ‘wish lists’. This will make a huge difference to these organisations and it also sets a very positive example for our children at BIS HCMC. We hope that the children here will learn to value fundraising for charity and also to understand the importance of devoting time and energy to our community.
We can all make a difference!
