U19 Girls Football - Match Report 14/03/17

A frustrating game, in which the BIS HCMC U19 Girls dominated their opponents but struggled to punish them. Important lessons learned against even stiffer competition.

  • Senior Girls Football vs French International School

As we patiently waited for our match to begin, the adrenaline rushed through our bodies.  Once we heard the last whistle of the boys team, we sprinted towards the pitch to start our warm up (led by Anna Huynh). Afterwards, coach give his final team instructions and inspired us with his words. We got into our positions, and waited for the referee to start the game. The atmosphere was tense, since both opponents had never played against each other before.

As we came to the end of the first half, and the sweat was trickling down our faces, we were inspired by SaeBom Park’s amazing late strike putting us ahead by one. We were tired, but we were determined to score more goals.

Our coach reminded us to use the tactics that we learned in our training sessions. With our hopes high, the second half began. As minutes passed by, Caitlyn Brownrigg, was able to score two goals with the help of her team mates. However, our momentum ended when RISS were awarded 2 penalty kicks, fortunately for us, and with the help of a magnificent save, the opponents didn’t score a goal. Nonetheless, we were able to learn from our mistakes and played excellently until the end.

The game ended 3:0 to us. RISS were a strong team, and on the back of our performance we are looking forward to playing against SSIS which will be our toughest test of the season.
