Parents’ Corner – 17/3/17

This issue of Parent Corner is mostly about what you had to say about the School Fete.  So let's have a "Throwback to the Fête" addition of Parent Corner!

School Fête: Community Service Meeting

Last Wednesday, Ms Eva, Ms Clover and Ms Alicia, the BIS HCMC Community Leader, met to discuss allocating the funds raised during the TX Fête.  More information will come soon; as there are some exciting projects in store!

The "Thank you"

It is something which we did not anticipate enough, therefore the "thank you" is taking some extra time and might be completed by March 29th.  Little by little, we’ll get there.  We also want to make sure no one is forgotten.

This week, the PG had a special treat for Mr Jon.  Every morning he received a cup of his favorite beverage; a cappuccino and a quote for the day!  Thank you again Mr Jon, for the help and support before and during the Fête.  This was possible with Ms Mary’s and Ms Van’s support as they organised the delivery.

Throwback to the Fête

What did you think about it?  Here is what some members of the team, children and parents had to say about March 4th

"Being new not only at the school but also the country - arriving on New Year's Day - getting involved with the PTG and its activities has put me in the thick of things.  Daunting, as I am still finding my feet, it ironically has helped me to feel more at home here.  Helping with the organisation of the fête, I have come to better know some amazing parents, for which I am truly grateful."

Ms Joan

"I have to admit that being part of the BIS TX PTG group for the first time has been a little overwhelming for a new BIS parent like me.  But I have to say I have gained much more than what I contributed to this meaningful event.  The friendship and experience gained is irreplaceable.  To raise 122,033,000VND is a big achievement for us and to our community partners.  It has been a joy working with all the other mummies and seeing all the families come together on our family day. The BIS TX PTG rocks!"

Gloria

"I really like the decorations, the nail art, the bracelets made by our Japanese Moms and the food in the canteen.  I was happy to have McDonald's chicken.  I enjoyed the music and liked Fahasa's booth.  I wished to have had more time to play games upstairs and draw in the art competition. "

Emily, Y1

"Some of the moms told me the Fête was very successful.  There were many activities, there was a great variety in the music program, the food was delicious, the organisation was good and the raffle draw was very interesting.  Some parents, TAs and staff said "TX Parents were so devoted to put their time and energy into the Fete, I take my hat off to them!"

Ms Duyen

"I am a mum of MinJae(F3) and YunJae(F1).  It is our first year in this school, and family day was such an enjoyable and memorable experience.  While preparing for this event, I was impressed by the PTG parents.  They were very enthusiastic and put a lot of effort to make it even better than last year.  Also, the school was very supportive.  As a result, we were able to have various events and activities on the day.  My boys and husband said they had a lot of fun.  It was also great to see people enjoy the event.  I could have been even happier if I had won some expensive vouchers in the lucky draw, maybe!? :-)

Family day would not have been possible if it wasn't for the help of many people and many companies.  I want to say thank you to all for their support.  It was awesome!"

Ms Jieun

"This year the Parent Group of BIS TX organized a very happy Family Day, from activities to games, foods… all were very well planned.  I felt happy to be part of the event by working in a security position and I hope that the Parent Group will develop and hold many more events like this to connect the love between the School, Parent Group and students.

I wish the Parent Group and the BIS TX school team will always be happy and joyful. Thank you.”

Security guard, Mr Vo Thanh Tuan

"Last year, we thought "we can do it", because we had the experience of International week.  This year, we thought, "we can do more ", because we have the experience of the Fête last year.  After the Fête was finished, it was even more powerful, attractive and fun than I had expected.  I learned many new things from the Fête, especially about sponsorship.  I'd like to say many many thanks to all TX families who supported our Fete!

Cheers!"

Ms Minori

"I was happy to return to TX along with friends from Y7.  We met Ms Kirstine, our teacher last year. We had a lot of fun with the hair color spray and the food was delicious."

Jean-Baptiste, Y7B

...and if you already miss the fun, APP campus is having its Spring Fair on March 26th with fun activities, a lucky dip and much more!

Have a lovely weekend,

Anne on behalf of the Parent Group.
