Year 3 EAL students have been learning how to use direct speech in their writing and have also been using other verbs than ‘said’ to make their writing more engaging and to express how the speaker is feeling. They have been applying this in their adventure stories and in their recounts of the Sleepover. Their amazing work can be seen on display in room 202. Come and have a look!

In addition, the students have also been learning to use adjectives in their speaking and writing. The students are now able to add description to their sentences, which makes it more interesting for the reader. We have engaged with our five senses and have used our imagination to help us describe being by the sea and being in a rainforest. We have thought about words to talk about colour, size, temperature and more! The students are now using their bank of adjectives to write a recount of a special day of theirs or in the life of an animal in the rainforest. Great work Year 3!

Year 4 students having been working energetically and collaboratively during Term 2. They have learnt to read non-fiction articles from reliable sources online, and make their own mind maps in their notebooks. This has been used to create some fantastic looking pamphlets about endangered animals. Additionally, they have been reading short stories and texts and have gained a better understanding and confidence in reading comprehension. Excellent work year 4!
