Year 8 Visit the Museum of HCMC

For some Year 8 Vietnamese students today marked their first ever outdoor History lesson as we stepped out of the classroom and into the Museum of HCMC.

The trip was designed to develop their knowledge of Ho Chi Minh City, which was called Saigon up until 1975. All students liked the building structure that was designed by a French architect.

Minh Vy (YR8 Student) said that she really liked “its structure as it was like the White House”, home of the US President. Although some exhibition rooms are under repair, our BIS HCMC students had a great, and fun, opportunity to discover different information about the nature, history, culture and geography of our host country. The outdoor exhibition was the most interesting and attracted our students to some plane models such as A.37 fighter that was used to attack the Tan Son Nhat airport during the historic campaign of Ho Chi Minh and the F.5 fighter used to bomb the Independence Palace in 1975.

Jack Nguyen (YR8 Student) said that he liked "the museum structure and cool planes outside".

“Travelling broadens the mind” “Đi môt ngày đàng học một sàng khôn” (Vietnamese idiom).
