Poussières de Vie’s New Playground

Poussières de Vie have worked with TX for many years and we have enjoyed a mutually beneficial partnership with them. Our Year 6 and Year 4 children have worked on yearly projects with the children at PdV and we have supported them with fundraising activities. Most recently, the PTG at TX decided to take on a large project using the funds they raised at the TX fete. The mission was to redesign the playground space at PdV and the parents rose to the occasion!

After raising a considerable amount of money at the TX fete, the next question for the PTG and the community department was what to do with it! With so many partners in need of support this was a tough decision. When the PTG heard about the state of the playground at PdV they decided that this could be a project they could really get stuck in to. This was a project that they could devote time and energy to – not just money.

Parents spent time cleaning, painting, coordinating with contractors, purchasing toys and equipment for the playground and organising sponsors. So much time and effort went in to completely redesigning the space. Luckily, our Year 4 children were also working with PdV children during this time so they were able to create some attractive wooden plaques together which are now displayed on the playground walls.

After much hard work, it was time for the grand reveal! On Monday, representatives from the community department along with Mr Ian were invited to come and celebrate the opening of the playground. I was astounded when I walked in as it looked so bright and the space had been utilised most effectively. Every detail had been considered – even a stage backdrop for the children to practise performing in front of. Speeches were followed by singing and dancing from the children who entertained the group of visitors brilliantly and then a range of delicious refreshments were served.

I was truly honoured to be invited to such a wonderful event and inspired to see what we can achieve if we are ambitious. The community spirit shown by the TX PTG is phenomenal and I’d like to take the opportunity to thank them for their hard work and dedication to our community service. This has been a great year for community and this event was the perfect way to finish it off.

I wonder what we can achieve next year?
