Year 2 Trip to the Circus

At the beginning of new learning it is always best practice to create a stimulus that initiates great thinking and great enthusiasm, which will then feed into and result in great learning.  Our Y2 children and teachers had just that opportunity last week when they took a trip to the circus!

On Friday, our Year 2 children from TX met our Year 2 children from AP1 at the circus to begin their new IPC topic called the “Circus”.  On their way, the children were excited and chatted about what acts they wanted to see.  From lion tamers to fire breathers, acrobats to jugglers, when we arrived we sat down in anticipation and waited to see what amazing performances the circus had to offer.

The show started with lots of performers wearing colourful costumes and wigs. It was not long before we saw 8 performers balanced on a bicycle, a great start to the show.  The show continued with hula hoopers, jugglers, clowns and acrobats.  Even Spiderman made an appearance, flying around the big top on long pieces of silk.  A few children even had the opportunity to join some of the performers and entertained their fellow classmates.  Overall, everyone had an amazing time, even if there were no lion tamers! However, I think the teachers were actually very grateful for that!

I know all of Year 2 would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in making the trip to the circus such a fun one!
