An Phu Primary Expansion

The development of our Early Years and Infant Campus, presents an opportunity to transform our learning spaces at An Phu Primary. The following changes, that will take place over the summer, are designed to accommodate the specific needs of our families and support our approach to progressive education.

  • AP Primary Drone 680x435min

Action:

Extended classroom size with individually designed BIS learning spaces to utilise and extend children's learning.

Reason:

We want to provide an unhurried and creative learning environment where children can find the joy in learning and experience the richness of childhood. The additional space will help facilitate movement and activity throughout the classroom as our children explore their environment and all five of their senses.

Action:

Bespoke classroom furniture to increase the mobility and flexibility of learning spaces.

Reason:

Great attention has been given to the look and feel of the classroom because environment is considered the "third teacher." Academic subjects will be enriched and enlivened in a way that meets the developmental stages of the children, offering both sensory and intellectual nourishment.

Action:

Development of a Year 3 to Year 6 Robotics Control Programme.

Reason:

As part of the current curriculum on offer at BIS HCMC we spend a large focus on getting students involved and interested in computer science through coding in Scratch. By adding the robotics element to the curriculum we will be taking the theory side of coding into the physical. It will become a gateway for students to get ahead in robotics and this will lead into more complex robotics in their secondary education as we continue to prepare students for job roles that haven’t been created yet.

Action:

Reconfigured Music Area.

Reason:

The new music rooms are designed to accommodate the keyboards we are using for the Juilliard programme. They will have more natural light and far better sound-proofing and acoustics. Additionally, the practice rooms will all have windows into the corridors and the teaching rooms.

Action:

Change from grass to astroturf on the small pitch, to extend the PE storage facilities and the PE Office.

Reason:

We are converting the small pitch from grass to an astroturf surface so that it is usable during all weather conditions. A smooth, predictable surface will also help our students to refine more complex skills. We are also extending the outer wall of the Gym to accommodate additional office and storage space for our growing PE Department.
