Staff Profile: Gemma Archer

Gemma Archer (571x800)

Head of Geography

PGCE Secondary Geography, Liverpool Hope University, UK

BSc (Hons) Geography with Criminology, University of Derby, UK

Gemma joined BIS HCMC in August 2017 from Dulwich College Shanghai where she held the post of Head of Geography.  Prior to this she taught Geography and Humanities in Munich, Budapest and the UK.  As the Approaches to Teaching and Learning Coordinator at Munich International School in Germany, Gemma was also involved in developing and embedding learning skills across the curriculum.  Gemma has been an IBDP examiner since 2011, and was involved in the Geography Curriculum Review for the 2017 syllabus.  As a self-confessed Geography geek, Gemma takes any opportunity she can to explore the world around her through fieldtrips, travel, hiking and involvement in the Duke of Edinburgh International Award; she is often caught exclaiming at the wonder of a lava field or the beauty of a coastline and the processes that created it.  At home she indulges her passion for food, cooking and baking.
