Lauren Binnington_Psychology Teacher-Head of Sixth Form

Psychology Teacher / Head of Sixth Form

As someone who had never travelled in Asia before moving to Vietnam, I sometimes struggle to explain what drew me here. A short time doing a study abroad programme during my degree is what led me to seek to work overseas and BIS presented itself as an opportunity at just the right time. I still remember preparing myself for life in Ho Chi Minh City by watching YouTube videos of people crossing the road!

BSc (Hons) English and Psychology, Keele University, UK

PGCE (Pschology), Keele University, UK

Lauren joined BIS in August 2010 after spending four years teaching in the east of England. During this time she taught A-level Psychology, Key Stage 3 PSHE and developed the Key Stage 4 Citizenship program. As part of the Citizenship program she helped her students to enter the UK mock parliament competition run by the UK Citizenship Foundation, which involved staging a mock parliamentary debate. She also ran regular salsa lessons for the key stage 5 students. As well as dancing, Lauren has a love of literature and the theatre and also enjoys scuba diving and travelling. She is thoroughly enjoying exploring Vietnam.
