Tanzania Expedition 2017

We enter our fourth year of the highly successful Tanzania Citizenship Expeditions. If you are open to other people and their needs, ready to work to improve their life, ready to face adventure, you may become part of it.

The eight day expedition will take you, with about 20 other TBS students, to the Arusha region of Tanzania. Here you will follow in the footsteps of over 300 fellow Nord Anglia Education students, who have taken part in previous expeditions, discovering the diverse and vibrant culture of Tanzania, whilst significantly contributing to the communities of the Kitefu and Imbaseni. This fantastic opportunity will provide a real and life changing experience for you, equipping you with essential skills and experiences that will be greatly advantageous in your future life. You will build confidence, independence and leadership skills. You will work as part of a team managing your own time, developing resilience, persistence and resourcefulness.

Part of the programme is fundraising before the expedition. Each participant will need to raise the equivalent of 300$. This goes to Tanzania to support the work going on there. This means you will be involved in different activities raising funds for the sake of the Tanzanian communities. The range of activities will depend on your invention and commitment. So you need to have some good ideas and be ready to get involved.

The expedition will leave around the 26th of January 2017 and return around the 4th of February, depending on the flights. Nord Anglia Education will cover the costs of students’ stay in Tanzania. However, you will have to pay for the flight, visa, medical treatment and insurance.

If you want to learn more about the Tanzania Expedition, read the brochure that can be found on the school website.

You may also contact Mrs Peplinska or Mr Doherty via e-mail:

Owen.Doherty@ thebritishschool.pl

If you are a student in year 10, 11 or 12, ready to work hard to fundraise for other people, like adventure and seeing the world in a new way, apply to become a member of the expedition.

Leave your application form with Mrs Peplinska, Mr Doherty or your form teacher, by the 3rd of October. This is not a firm commitment to going, nor is it a guarantee that you will be invited to go.

Once all the applications are in, parents will receive an e mail, inviting their child to join the trip. A further application form will need to be filled in and a deposit paid. A meeting will be held on Weds 5th October for pupils and their parents to finalise participants.
