Early Years Foundation Stage: Ages 2 1/2 to 5 years old

The Early Years Foundation Stage is where a lifetime of learning begins. Children develop quickly in the early years and our Early Years practitioners aim to do all they can to help your child have the best possible start in life and become lifelong learners.

Our Early Years provision enables your child to develop their personalities, talents and abilities, enabling them to develop a strong sense of self, feel positive about their abilities as a learner, form constructive relationships and become confident communicators.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which is statutory in the UK for all Ofsted registered child care settings. This curriculum is full of real-life concrete experiences and is divided into 7 areas: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; Physical Development; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding of the World and Expressive Arts and Design. The Early Years Foundation Stage is our Kindergarten referred to as Pre- Nursery, Nursery and Reception.

The emphasis in our Early Years Centre of Excellence is on active learning through play, allowing children to develop and reach their potential. Our teachers and assistants create an atmosphere in which children are encouraged to be self-motivated, curious and confident in themselves and their work and to take pride in their achievements. The Early Years Centre of Excellence in Warsaw is designed to provide a happy and purposeful introduction to school life.

In the Early Years programme, children develop their knowledge and understanding of the world. We work with them to open up new opportunities to explore mathematical, creative and physical experiences. We help them to develop their communication skills and to explore their personal, social and emotional development. Our dedicated teachers guide the children through this early phase of their schooling, providing them with a nurturing and safe environment within which they can blossom as bright, independent young minds.

Our Early Years Centre includes Year 1 of the Key Stage 1 phase. In Year 1, the children build on what they already know and understand. For the Year 1 children, the focus shifts and divides into distinct subject areas of learning. These are Literacy, Phonics, Numeracy, Topic, ICT, Design Technology, Art, Music, PE, and Polish. These subjects are mainly taught through Cross Curricular topics. By following the National Curriculum for England and selecting the best elements it has to offer, we ensure the smooth transition between each phase of education.

Our Year 1 classrooms are well equipped to support the more formal nature of the curriculum. Classroom displays reflect and celebrate the children’s work. More information about the Year 1 curriculum is available under the Key stage 1 section of the website.
