Key Stage 1 covers Years 1 and 2 in school. Building on the skills already learned in the Early Years, the children develop in maturity and begin to experience more formal methods of recording their ideas.
The British School, Warsaw provides a stimulating learning environment that inspires and motivates students to succeed in their academic, sporting, and co-curricular development. We enable our students to become confident, courteous and responsible individuals by promoting the values, attitudes and attributes of highest quality learning
Throughout Key Stage One we are committed to ensuring that our students embark on their learning journey with a sense of awe and wonder. As children progress from the EYFS curriculum and into Key Stage 1, emphasis is placed on the further acquisition of skills and understanding in literacy and numeracy. The majority of our learning takes places in the nurturing environment of the classroom, facilitated by the classroom teacher and assistant teacher. Specialist teachers support the teaching of Music and Physical Education. Learning is meaningful and field study trips extend classroom activities. Teaching strategies are varied according to the purpose of a task and the needs of each child. In our School, we creatively nurture each individual and our teaching reflects our belief that happy and confident children learn most effectively.
