Year 2 Teacher and Learning Leader Year 2

I completed my degree in Science in London and then went on to do my P.G.C.E. at Leeds University. I worked in a school in London for eight years. During this time I taught in Reception and Year 2. Whilst at the school I was the Science coordinator, Key Stage One coordinator and, for one year, acting Deputy Head. I enjoyed my time at the school and was very lucky to be given so many opportunities to develop my teaching and leadership skills, while also having an opportunity to learn from some amazing colleagues with a wealth of experience.

After eight years in London I decided that I was ready for a change and decided to apply for posts overseas. I began my overseas teaching career in Suzhou, China. I worked there for two years in an international school teaching Year 1. It was a very interesting experience and challenged me in many ways, particularly with learning the language. I had always found learning languages quite easy up to that point, but Chinese proved me wrong. After that I worked in The Bahamas for three years teaching a Year 1 class. Whilst in the Bahamas I was the Head of Year 1. Although this was a beautiful place to live and work, I decided that it was time to move a bit closer to home, so I began teaching in Switzerland. I stayed for two years teaching a Year 4 class, whilst being the curriculum coordinator for the Primary school. I then joined The British School, Warsaw in 2012 as a Year 2 teacher and Head of Year. I am very happy with my choice to move to Warsaw and pleased to be working at The British School with its strong sense of community.

Highest Quality Learning

For me, Highest Quality Learning enables children to reach their full potential. It ensures that each child can become a confident student who is able to take risks and work successfully with others. A student who is able to challenge themselves and believe in their own ability. I particularly like the emphasis on the values, attitudes and attributes, as these are valuable skills that the children will use throughout their lives.

WHAT THE STUDENTS SAY

I like being in Miss Gibb's class because I learn so many things.

I like Miss Gibb because she takes care of everybody in the class.

I like being in Miss Gibb's class because it is fun. I like my class because everyone is nice to me.
