Year 3 Teacher and Learning Leader for KS1 and KS2 Topic

After obtaining Qualified Teacher Status in 2005, I taught Year 2, Year 4 and SEN students in a primary school in London where I also coordinated Out of School Hours provision and Modern Foreign Languages. Following that, I worked as a primary MFL advisor for the Local Educational Authority in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. I have worked in Poland since October 2008. In my previous role I managed the young learners teaching at British Council Poland. I joined The British School, Warsaw in September 2012.

I have an MA degree from London Metropolitan University and a PhD from the University of Reading My academic research focuses on the ways in which assessment can support learning in bilingual and second language contexts. I am also a teacher trainer for University of Cambridge CELTA YL international teaching qualification. This is an exciting role which has so far given me the pleasure of training teachers in England, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Bahrain.

Highest Quality Learning

To me, Highest Quality Learning is the belief that every student can achieve great results. It’s about developing creative and inquisitive young minds that are not afraid to take risks and are equipped with a can-do attitude that helps them keep on trying to complete the task at hand, even if they encounter some obstacles. In practice it means that as teachers we facilitate the learning process by providing conditions in which there is no glass ceiling on our expectations of what the students can achieve. HQL encourages young people to take ownership and responsibility for their learning.

what the students say

‘I think Mrs Britton is a very nice teacher. She lets us do lots of interesting lessons and she never gave me a yellow card.’ Julia, Year 4

‘Mrs Britton is so nice and kind. I like it when she is teaching me. She always helps me do my work and when she is helping me I always know what to do.’ Martyna, Year 4

‘Last year, when I came to the school I didn’t speak any English. Mrs Britton was my teacher and she helped me so much. Now I know English really well. She is a really good teacher and she understands students so well. I love her!’ Leti, Year 8
