After obtaining my teaching degree from Manchester Metropolitan University, I spent 4 years teaching in Key Stage One in a multi-cultural school in Bradford. I set out on my journey to become a teacher when I was just 15 years old, undertaking my first work experience at a local Primary school in South Wales. From there on my career choice never veered and I qualified from Bath Spa University with a BA with Qualified Teacher Status. I have always worked with Year 1 and 2 children, spending 4 years at an Infant School in Bristol. I then returned to South Wales and taught for 8 years in a large Primary school. This is now my third year at The British School, Warsaw, and deciding to come to here, was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

My first experience in teaching began in Leeds after having obtained a Creative Writing degree from Leeds University. It involved teaching asylum seekers elementary English so that they could build up the confidence to use it in their everyday lives. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, but I especially valued how they were able to express their cultural backgrounds to me with the English I had taught them.

Before training in primary education, I taught English as a foreign language in Thailand for a year. This post confirmed my desire to become a primary teacher and eventually work overseas again. After successfully completing my PGCE and achieving QTS, I started my career in London. Over the past 14 years, since qualifying, I have delivered the English National Curriculum in the UK, Colombia, China and Egypt. I am now looking forward to working with children and their families based here in Warsaw.
