I obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Geography with a Minor in Computer Studies and my Bachelor of Education from Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. This will be my first year working at the British School and my first year teaching abroad. I have been teaching for the past seven years at Father Leo J. Austin Catholic Secondary School in Whitby, Ontario, just outside of Toronto.
I am looking forward to the experience of teaching in Poland and working with students from so many different backgrounds. The majority of my teaching experience has been in the fields of Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Geography.
I enjoy teaching object oriented programming, recursive algorithms, and programming apps for portable devices such as tablets and smartphones. I also enjoy using the Raspberry Pi computer and the Arduino micro controller platform to teach programming concepts using robotics and electronics. I currently am proficient in the following programming languages: Java, C/C++, Python, and Microsoft Visual Basic.
HIGH PERFORMANCE LEARNING
High Performance Learning (HPL) is something all good teachers must do. It allows students to learn new skills by adapting the lessons to suit there learning style in a safe and welcoming environment. It also helps students develop their own skills involving abstract thought. This allows them to see the interconnection between curriculum taught in school and the outside world.
