Paul Mitchell

Year 11 Form Tutor

I graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2005 with a Secondary Education degree majoring in Mathematics.  In 2008, after moving and working in London for two years, I gained my British Teaching Qualification. In 2009, I had been teaching for four and half years at Acland Burgley School in London, I met my wife and we decided to say goodbye to London and embark on an oriental adventure. For three years I worked in one of the top British International School in South East Asia, Garden International School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. During my last 2 years I was at Garden I was promoted to Assistant Head of year 7.

I joined the British School, Warsaw in August 2012 and am now Head of Secondary Mathematics. The decision to move to The British School was a planned decision. My wife and I wanted to move to Poland, but I wanted to continue my profession as an inspiring Teacher and work at a school where students were reflective, resilient and determined learners. The British School, Warsaw is a school with a good sense of community that delivers high academic results but at the same time develops the whole child.

I have always been into fast sports. Growing up and living on a large cattle farm in central Queensland, Australia I loved to come home from school and go for a spin on my 250cc dirt bike. Whilst living in Malaysia for 3 year I got into wake boarding and when I was not exploring Asia I loved to go surfing in Bali. Now that I have recently become a father I have yet to find something in Poland, but I think skiing this winter is a must.

HIGH PERFORMANCE LEARNING

High Performance Learning really does focus on key skills that students might display throughout their day. In mathematical I aim to provide students with learning opportunities to develop the skills needed to become effective and high performing learners. I achieve this through practical or real life investigations, problem solving and collaborative learning activities.
