After spending 3 years teaching business at vocational colleges I spent the next 15 years as Administration Manager in a corporate environment, cofounding a national franchise operation within the service industry.
After a visit to China my family and I were drawn to the Orient and in 2009, we changed our scenery from the savannah of South Africa to the rainforests of South-East Asia, finding a utopia in a tropical island off the coast of Malaysia. On this little island, Penang, I took on TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and taught both English acquisition and Business Management at Fairview International School - an IB World School.
In 2014, we decided to venture to Europe and explore our Dutch roots. I was offered a teaching position at the International School Eerde, a school housed in a 300 year old castle tucked away in the Dutch countryside, where I have been teaching both IGCSE and IBDP level Business Management and Economics.
Another chapter is closing and time to turn the page again - my daughter will be leaving to start her tertiary education in the UK and my son, Joel, and I are looking forward to our next adventure when joining the British School, Warsaw.
