Adam Hołda

Polish and German teacher, Year 8 tutor

I joined The British School in 2011. As a linguist and philologist I always wanted to work in anmultilingual and multicultural society. I graduated from the College of Inter-Faculty Studies at University of Warsaw which enabled me to complete studies in German Philology, Polish Philology and Applied Linguistics (Russian). As a scholarship holder of "Memory, Responsibility, Future" foundation I spent one year at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. Before joining the school I worked as a German and Polish teacher in the International European School in Warsaw. Currently I am working on his PhD thesis concerning the development of participle constructions in the old Polish language. I am running classes in introduction to diachronic linguistics and analysis of old Polish texts in the Institute of Polish Language at University of Warsaw. In the years 2005 - 2011 I worked as a Russian language consultant for the BBC production "Behind closed doors – Stalin" and for Zodiak Jerzy Hoffman film "Bitwa Warszawska 1920".

Dachshunds, dancing and opera singing are my deepest passions.

Highest Quality Learning

Highest Quality Learning confirms my deepest feeling that none of the educational systems is entitled to label the students. The school should give them a chance to develop their skills and make them do their best. It is like breathing fresh air of education.
I would like my students to believe they can fly and understand that non scholae sed vitae discimus.

What the students say

“Mr Holda is a very nice teacher. He’s patient and willing to explain things until I understand. I appreciate his joke-telling skills, which make German lessons a lot more fun.”

“Mr Holda teaches me in a very different and more effective way than other teachers. He has a sense of humour which always makes our lesson more interesting. If I don’t understand something, he explains the meaning of the word not in English but in German which I find a unique and proper way. He doesn’t make a lesson stressful for me. “

“Mr Holda is a very good teacher who cares about his pupil very much and tries to be always good and patient with them. He is very energetic and would always answer your question. “

“Mr Holda is a friendly teacher, he is very dedicated to his work and tries to teach the students everything necessary. If a student needs some extra help, he is willing to give the student the time and effort to help him or her. He gives a fair amount of time for the student to be able to complete the work.”
