In 2013 I achieved my childhood ambition and became the Headteacher of my own secondary school. I led and managed the school for three years before the opportunity arose to take my skills and experience to Washington, DC.
I am a family man and have been married to my wife Linsey for nearly twenty-five years now. I have two children, Annie (age 16) and William (age 14) and for the first time in my career I work at the same school as the one that they attend. I enjoy the opportunity to see more of my children during the working week now, but I am not sure that they enjoy having their Dad as Head of Secondary quite so much!
Outside of work I enjoy photography, listening to music and watching and playing a variety of sports. Washington DC has so far proven to be an ideal base for all of these interests and I am enjoying getting to grips with the nuances of American sport while still supporting my home-town football club from afar! I also enjoy travelling and have been lucky enough to visit (and photograph) some amazing sights in places as diverse as Cambodia and Kenya. At home I enjoy cooking, baking and reading and my ideal evening is one spent with my family enjoying some good food and watching a movie or two.
BISW is truly international. To work in an environment where the students come from more than sixty different countries yet manage to help and support so well is a joy to behold.
