Hailing from Leicester (UK) home of the Fox’s and Tigers, I journeyed north graduating from Manchester Polytechnic with a Degree in Industrial Design in 1992. Manchester having lost its luster, I returned to Leicester enrolling at Leicester’s De Montfort University, formerly Leicester Polytechnic, earning my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) in Design Technology.
I started my UK teaching career in 1995 and taught in three separate institutions, the last two being Specialist Technology Colleges and the latter in the capacity of Head of Department. Eleven years ago for both personal and professional reasons I found myself a member of the first group of specialist secondary staff to join BISW, back in the autumn of 2002. The challenges we’ve faced, the obstacles we’ve overcome to build a successful secondary school have been many and yet here we are a growing school and an exciting future.
I have held a range of positions within BISW over the years with my passion for my subject never waning. Working with my colleagues as head of Secondary I look forward to the challenge of developing the school further. To quote Walt Disney, “Around here, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.”
