Joseph Walker

Having graduated from Warwick University with a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies, I attended Leicester University where I obtained a PGCE in Primary Education and another in Secondary Citizenship Education. I was given the opportunity to take my first teaching post teaching English at an all-boys inner-city school. After gaining invaluable experience, friends and I ventured overseas to explore the wider world, and this is where my passion for travel began.

Whilst residing in Australia, I worked at a learning centre that assisted children and teenagers with reading, spelling, and language comprehension challenges. Following this, I then visited the west coast of the USA. Here, I fell in love with the culture and positivity of everyone before returning home to teach in two primary schools with a variety of roles and responsibilities, including coordinating Physical Education, Computing, Geography, and History.

When I am out of school I love to be out and about. Whether it be exploring the Nation’s Capital or being active, I love being outside. I am a sports fanatic and have passions for soccer, American football, ice-hockey, swimming and many more. Come the end of each day, I like to recharge my batteries by reading and staying in touch with family and friends from home.

Having been in education for several years, BISW is innovative in its deliverance of learning to the children. Opportunities here are unparalleled, with the main reason being is the sense of community from all involved, including the children, parents and staff. Children hold no fear towards their learning; rather, they are excited! They want to learn, not only about themselves and their own education, but about those children around them who have come from all parts of the world.
