Having gained a BSc Science and Education with Qualified Teacher Status degree in 2001, I began my teaching journey in a very challenging school in Peterborough, England. As the years progressed the school became a mixture of students from different cultures, social backgrounds and abilities. I became the ‘Leader of Learning’ for Science but having spent 12 years at that school, I began to feel ‘part of the furniture’ and felt a new challenge was in order.
In September 2013, I began working at British International School of Washington - very much looking forward to the new, exciting challenges ahead. My enthusiasm for the subject and teaching has never wavered, and the delight on the students face when they enjoy the lesson is the reason I go to work each morning.
I am married and have a little boy called Tobias. At the weekends I love spending time with the family, having barbeques, going for walks and taking Tobias to the park. There is nothing I like more than seeing his face light up when he goes down a slide! I also really enjoy shopping and would definitely say I was a shopaholic. As a family we intend visiting many parts of the USA including Florida, New York and Lake Tahoe as well as taking a cruise around Alaska. I also intend learning to ski so that we can take advantage of the slopes that are not too far from D.C.
