Head of Years 7-8; Art

After attending University in Sunderland, I began my career as a Commercial Artist specialising in Illustration. My love of Art led me into a career in teaching which began in North Yorkshire where I taught Art and DT. Whilst teaching in London, I was able to additionally train as a primary school teacher so have enjoyed teaching across a wide range of age groups throughout my career.

Having travelled extensively, this has enabled me to work in many different schools in a wide range of roles with a variety of responsibilities. My husband’s career brought my family to Washington and I was thrilled to join the teaching staff at BISW. I am passionate about Art and enjoy taking part in making our school visually appealing and a creative, inviting place to learn.

My two teenage children attend BISW and are both currently in the IB Diploma Program. In my free time I enjoy skiing with my family, keeping fit and travelling. I derive great pleasure from drawing and painting which I continue to pursue whenever time permits.

The British International School of Washington is a truly exceptional place to teach. The students come from near and far with so many wonderful International experiences to share and learn from. This makes every day different from the last. I so much enjoy the creative success of our school, whether it be in visual arts or live performances, this is an aspect of school life which brings me great pleasure and which I actively involve myself in.
