KS3 Assembly - Year 8 Citizenship class presents about Zero Hunger

The year 8 Citizenship class were set a project to try and make a change. They decided to do an assembly on the UN’s 17 goals with a main focus on Zero Hunger. They spoke about what the goals are and why they are in place. They then spoke about how we could try and help with this goal. For example don’t over buy food - many of us buy too much and then throw it in the bin.

. We should buy what we need not what we want! This will mean that more food is left as surplus for other people to have. Also, they made the students think about their food usage in the canteen. For example do they take loads of bread but then leave it on their tray? Could they take less and then if their still hungry go back for more -  this way it isn’t going in the bin.

They did a fantastic job of getting their message across as it is very difficult to stand up in front of people and give a speech. It is even harder when you have to give that speech to over 150 people.  Also they had clearly worked very hard researching the topic and putting together their PowerPoint and script. So a big well done goes to Shatha, Christian, Rebecca, Abel, Yushan, Kofi, Chenhan, Gyuri, Jongwon, Darius and Clara.
