Christopher John Young

t

English and TOK Teacher

I joined BISB in August 2012, having taught English Language and Literature in UK secondary schools for the previous 10 years. For the last three of these I also held a pastoral position as Head of Year. I have a BA (Hons.) in English from Strathclyde University and a PGCE teaching qualification from Oxford University.

I was attracted to BISB by the prospect of working with independently minded, highly motivated students, and have found exactly what I was looking for!

In my spare time I enjoy reading-a good thing given my students’ insatiable appetite for new texts to discuss! I also relax by listening to music and playing the guitar. I once played in a metal band, but these days I stick to more mellow genres, especially blues.

What the students say about me

“Mr. Young is funny and usually has a big smile on his face. He teaches well and is understanding when someone asks him a question”.

-Year 7 student

“Mr. Young’s lessons are very entertaining, yet also useful and effective.

I think teaching lessons like this is the best skill for a teacher, and Mr. Young certainly has it”.

-Year 8 student

“Mr. Young always tries to help students improve by answering their questions and giving them advice”.
