Matthew Moris - Lead faculty
Matthew Patrick Morris’ professions include actor, singer, model, writer, director, choreographer, artistic director, administrator, producer, and teacher. His art forms include film, television, physical theater, musical theater, concert, and opera.
In recent seasons, he has performed with the American Repertory Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Barbican Theatre on The West End, Les Bouffes du Nord in Paris, Piccolo Teatro in Milan, Gotham Chamber Opera, New York City Opera, The Kennedy Center, Santa Fe Opera, the National Tour of Scrooge: The Musical, on television in Law & Order, and in the feature film The Producers!
From 2012-2017 Matthew was the associate artistic director of SongFest, the premier art song training program and festival in the United States, where he also directed the vocal performance programs and created a new curriculum, innovating tailor-made courses for complete singing-actors from undergraduate through professional levels.
Matthew received his BM in voice from the Juilliard School and MM in vocal arts from Bard College Conservatory. He completed further studies in Lecoq’s method of physical theater with Marcello Magni and toured internationally as Papageno in Peter Brook’s Molière Award-winning adaptation of The Magic Flute, Une Flüte Enchantée. He is currently training to be an Alexander Teacher at the Balance Arts Center with Ann Rodiger, director of the Opera Workshop at Brooklyn College, and lives in NYC with his fiancé Edwin Cahill and dog Thisbe. www.matthewpatrickmorris.com
