Programme Details

Music Montage_programme details

Music Programme

Students participating in the Music Programme (instrumental, vocal, piano) will be inspired and challenged by working closely with their teachers in orchestra, choir and smaller ensembles.

Over the course of two weeks, the students will develop their technical abilities and use their new skills to play with passion and depth.  Each student will receive private one-to-one instruction from the faculty and will have the opportunity to participate in seminars and workshops including:

  • Masterclasses/group performance classes
  • Music theory/composition
  • Improvisation
  • Vocal diction
  • Body awareness/yoga
  • Rhythm and groove
  • Movement

Dance Programme

The Dance Programme at Summer Performing Arts provides dancers the opportunity to expand their technique and creativity in a supportive and inspiring atmosphere. By sharing and collaborating with other young artists from around the globe, the dance students will expand their creative range, become stronger performers, and develop new and lasting connections and friendships.

Juilliard Dance programme

Working with the Juilliard artist faculty consisting of professional dancers and choreographers, the dance students at Summer Performing Arts will have a daily schedule that includes a morning warm up/stretch class, technique classes (ballet and contemporary dance), rehearsal, improvisation, dance composition, jazz, and tap dance.

Specific skills and abilities to be developed include:

  • Core strength and flexibility
  • Alignment and balance
  • Spatial awareness
  • Musicality and rhythmic clarity
  • Improvisation skills
  • Performance skills and artistry
  • Choreographic craft
  • Familiarisation with and retention of new movement styles

Drama Programme

Great acting begins with the joy of playing, the pleasure of excellence, and the freedom to let the imagination soar. Guided by master teachers from New York’s Juilliard Drama Division, students attending Summer Performing Arts will enjoy learning creative physical expression, vocal exploration with text and music, ensemble acting, and a variety of fun techniques aimed toward liberating the theatrical imagination.

Working and playing in groups, students will find themselves moving step by step toward a creative stage performance where heightened language and physical expression merge. Come join us as we bring the language of Shakespeare to life, playfully explore imaginary scenes from classic myths, and experience the unique joys of ensemble acting.
