Students and employability

Can student campaigning improve employability? Our Senior School students have been researching and are finding real-life evidence of the impact of Creativity, Action and Service and how it can work in practice.

CAS, Creativity Action Service is an important and integral part of the IB. Evidence can easily be found about future leaders and the impact exposure to leadership qualities at school age have on career options. Campaigning and trying to make a difference can lead to great career opportunities; here’s a story which shows that the awareness and proactivity skills which the CAS programme encourages may lead to that great career.

It’s not every day that you meet an international development minister at the houses of parliament in London while dressed as a sweet potato. For Billy Hill, a third-year history student at the University of Birmingham, this was another day as a student campaigner. Hill’s campaigning not only gave him memorable experiences, but led to his first job. http://www.theguardian.com/education/2013/nov/04/student-campaigning-improves-employability
