End of Term Sports Report

So we have come to the end of term and a great deal of sport has taken place.

There has been huge numbers of children participating in CCA’s and interscholastic competition, both CISSA, SISAC and ACAMIS.

Volleyball

The girls coached by Ms Drew, went unbeaten throughout the season and performed admirable at the Cross River Event, hosted at Concordia.
It was completely different story for the boys, coached by Mr Dinsdale, who played well at home throughout the season and struggled away. However at Cross River Event, they dominated, not losing a game.

Rugby

I never knew that children from year 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 would be able to play contact rugby, but that they did. The junior rugby programme, hosted at Dulwich, was an absolute success. Teams coached by Mr. Cooper, Mr. Meehan competed over a for a period of 6 weeks, with 4 teams playing in this great development program for rugby. the under 11′s made it to the finals and were pipped to the title in the last moments.

U11 Netball
The young Tigers, competed in round robin tournaments over 6 weeks at Dulwich, BISS Puxi and SSIS Suzhou. Coached, by Mrs. Hugo and Mrs. McKellar, there has been some progress for the girls, who are just taking their first steps in interscholastic competition. Their commitment to training has been fantastic.

SISAC Football

The Girls team have been a force to reckoned with, only losing 1 game so far this season away to YCIS. Coached by Mr Northedge and Mr Lukose, they have already been crowned champions at the SAS Pudong tournament earlier in the season. Things look look positive for the SISAC tournament on the 12th of April and ACAMIS in Beijing, 23 – 27 of April.

The boys 11v11 team coached by Mr Grant and Mr McGuigan, started positively, with a battling 2-1 victory over Concordia. Since then, there have been some heavy defeats that have demoralised the team. However, a resounding 14 – 3 victory in 7v7′s against Jin Cai, lifted the mood of the players who a looking forward the their final league game against Dulwich on the 8th of April, the SISAC tournament of the 19th of April and the ACAMIS 23-27 April.

The D2 boys coached by Mr. Scott have been on fire, with 7-0 and 6-0 victories under their belt. They lost in a thrilling encounter with Dulwich, 7-5, but they look in good shape for SISAC Tournament on the 12th of April.

All in all, I can say that the talent at BISS is there in an abundance. The junior teams excelling and pushing for positions in senior teams. The sports scene looks bright at BISS!
