Next week in English we will be reading, writing and performing poetry. The children will hear some poems being performed, thinking about what makes a good performance, before practicing poems in preparation to share them with the class. We will also read some poems with a winter theme, looking at the form. We will study haikus and some rhyming poems, outlining their features and then use these to write our own versions.
Our focus in Maths will move on to learning about angles. The children will learn about the properties of a right angle and how to identify them, as well as investigating angles greater than or less than a right angle. They will also learn how to describe a 2D shape according to its properties, using mathematical language. Finally, the children will be asked to apply their knowledge of angles in a practical way by programming instructions into a sprite or Bee-bot to draw specified 2D shapes.
As a culmination of all our hard work in Topic this term, Year 3 will be holding an exhibition of 'Inventions that Changed the World' next Tuesday 6thDecember. You are all warmly invited! The opening times are as follows in the new location of the Dance Studio (opposite the Year 3 classrooms):
