Letter from the Director of Music and The Arts - 10th June 2016

We are all very excited to be welcoming Michael Shinn, Juilliard Alumnus, to NAIS Pudong next Tuesday. Michael is the Head of Keyboard Studies at Juilliard and will spend the day with us here. Michael will perform a “Four Hands Together” piece for Year 7 and 8 students before working with some of our youngest pianists in masterclasses.  Michael will also participate in a Year 2 Music lesson working on the keyboard skills that they have studying this term as part of our curriculum collaboration with The Juilliard School. We are really looking forward to meeting Michael and seeing him in action. You can read his biography here  and you can also see Michael in action here

  • Horrible Histories

You will be pleased to know that the DVD for Beauty and the Beast has been finished and is now ready for release.  It contains both casts and also some of the footage filmed by the CCA Film group and also some still images taken from the dress rehearsal and on the nights. A huge thank you to Andrew Groark and the CCA pupils for putting in all of the time to make this DVD happen! Details about how to get a copy of the DVD will be sent out next week.

The final rehearsals for the Junior School’s production of Horrible Histories are taking place and we have been so pleased with the amount of work that the Junior school staff and pupils have put in for this all-inclusive show.  All pupils in Year 3 to Year 6 are involved, with each class taking to the stage for a short skit.  These skits are designed not only to highlight key historical elements that they have studied, from Ancient Egypt to the great inventors, but also to look at different ways to dramatise these events on stage, from narration to song and dance to mime! This is the first time that all Junior school students have been involved in a production like this, so bravo to you all!  We hope to see as many of you as possible attend the production.

Director of Music and the Arts
