Message from the Principal - 9th September 2016

After a successful start to the academic and sporting year, learning beyond the classroom came to fruition when our CCA programme kicked into action this week.  It’s great to see just how many students engage in this key area of school life by taking part in activities including service work. Watching our older students, working alongside staff, to lead activities for our younger students and seeing their leadership qualities develop, is a joy.

Academic success lies at the heart of our school and is a given. But what ignites our student's passion is the opportunities to engage and draw connections to the wider world of learning. I am delighted to confirm that on Thursday 20th September Anu Ojha, Director National Space Academy will return to NAIS Pudong to deliver another of his fascinating lectures. Entitled, Secret Rulers of The World - the Apollo Moon Landings and Conspiracy Theories, our Years 10 - 13 students will consider the role of science in society and the importance of critical thinking in a world dominated by social media and the internet. Parents will also be welcomed, so save the date. More details to follow next week.

Don’t worry it’s not just our older students who will  enjoy the benefits of  our relationship with the National Space Academy. During the first week of November, Anu Ojha returns, with his team of leading space science educators, to host masterclasses in primary years plus a special lecture for primary families and students.

Finally,  a big thank you to everyone who attended the Primary Meet and Greet on Tuesday evening especially our staff who came along to meet and support our parent body. I look forward to meeting more parents over the weekend at the family picnic. And again at next week’s Secondary Meet and Greet, where you can find out more about the year ahead in your son or daughter's year group plus details of this year’s project week activities.
